My first experimental photo from the use of my ring flash.
See before and after: [link] ____________________________________
I started making my DIY ringflash when 'Everybody loves Raymond' started yesterday afternoon and ended up finishing it as the football ended late last night. Very fiddly project I got myself into...but I think it paid off in the end. I'll just evolve the design and make it less bulky the next time I make one.
Thanks...I was feeling pretty disturbed when I edited this pic Check out the before and after link in the comments to see that soft, no shadow portrait
oh geez...it prob reduces the flash by about 4 stops...but that would be the material i was using over the flash (old pillow case); other materials would have different reduction in light obviously.
No real hot sports...only thing is that the ring isnt a purfect ring...you can see it in some reflections in the eyes...oh well, not bad for my first attempt
Actually, not bad at all - Had a look at that shot of Jaz - it seems a little darker on one side (in the reflection from the eyes), but the overall effect is quite pleasing - heaps better than bare on camera flash, naturally.
Pretty awesome. The light fall-off is great. Isolates just the right details.

When is enough enough... What difference does it make when popular artist vent vent vent and support a site that tolerates deviant behaviour. HA! no wonder its all in a name.

Any hot spots? How many stops do you think it dropped?
